Humble & Whole Bakery: How it all began
I grew up surrounded by nature on our humble patch of land, tending to vegetables and caring for chickens. It instilled in me a profound appreciation for the earth's bounty and a desire for a simpler, more wholesome way of life.
Humble & Whole Bakery emerged, later in life, after my children had arrived into the world . They reminded me of a simpler time, when food was prepared from our land and pantry, instead of selected ready-made from a shelf in a local supermarket. Driven by a commitment to utilising locally sourced, homegrown, and organic ingredients whenever feasible, I wanted to offer an alternative bakery product to my customers.
The alchemy of culinary creation, coupled with a keen eye for aesthetics, satisfies my innermost cravings for indulgence and enjoyment. Over the years, I have fine-tuned my skills through selling at markets, honing my craft as a pastry chef in bustling kitchens, and crafting bespoke orders for special occasions.
As the next chapter unfolds, it is imperative that we elevate our business to new heights. At the core of our mission lies the belief in using our culinary voices to foster unity, bolster well-being, and enrich our local community. The narrative surrounding food – its origins, its role in nourishment, and the ways in which we care for ourselves – has evolved significantly since my youth. In a landscape rife with food misinformation, prioritising convenience over sustenance, and escalating costs of quality nutrition, a pressing need emerges. There is a positive food movement out there, and it is taking us back to our humble food beginnings, but we all need to invest in the ‘old’ ways if it is to succeed.
Hence, Humble & Whole Bakery endeavours to combat issues such as food poverty, wastage, and the impact of ultra processed foods, by collaborating with local producers to deliver a range of food wellness products and initiatives. These endeavours will be sustained through our incorporation as a social enterprise and underpinned by our offerings as an artisan bakery, coffee house, and pantry nestled in the heart of a bustling village. Together, let's embark on a journey of culinary enrichment and societal betterment, one wholesome creation at a time.
